The route to Step 3 for small businesses<\/h2>\n

From 1 July, step 3 of Safety Culture Ladder (SCL) will be a hard requirement for many tenders in construction and engineering. You keep this process manageable by taking control and not making it bigger than necessary.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We often hear that small organisations look up to the administration. A big misconception is that you are required to have the self-assessment for SCL Light listed on a public register. You don't have to. You go through the steps internally and use the results for your own improvement. This saves you time and unnecessary costs.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you have a small organisation with up to 50 employees? Then you can start today with the practical approach according to the <\/span>SCL<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Li<\/span><\/b>gh<\/span><\/b>t<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>for\u00a0<\/span><\/b>small\u00a0<\/span><\/b>organisations<\/span><\/b><\/a>:\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Arrange for an internal auditor to look after the SCL process internally.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Make sure an employee is\u00a0<\/span>trained<\/span><\/a>\u00a0according to NEN requirements, or hire an external consultant.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Conduct baseline measurement using the self-assessment questionnaire (SAQ)<\/span><\/b>\u00a0in the web tool.<\/strong>\u00a0The results show directly where safety awareness is already good and the areas of concern (anything answered indicatively below the desired ambition level).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. In the same web tool, using the <\/span>action plan a (GAP) analysis<\/span><\/b> and you name actions to get to the desired level. You also create a self-declaration in which you name behavioural goals and ambitions. You save this self-declaration for your own use. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Choose a Certifying Body (CI).<\/span><\/b>\u00a0Contact a\u00a0<\/span>CI<\/strong><\/span><\/a> to schedule the audit as auditors' schedules fill up quickly.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Get the audit done.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0The auditor conducts the 40% audit for your step indication. The CB ensures that the statement obtained is included in the official SCL register.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
