The Safety Culture Ladder Self-Assessment (SA) enables you to examine how health and safety are reflected in the attitudes and behaviour within your organisation. The questionnaire provides insight into your safety culture and helps you identify areas for improvement.
The SA is available to organisations of all sizes, including self-employed individuals and other organisations with fewer than five employees. For the other SCL products, there is a minimum threshold of five employees.

The SA does not undergo an external audit, and no certification body is involved.
Would you like to demonstrate publicly that your organisation is actively working to develop its safety culture? If so, you can submit your self-declaration to NEN via the web tool for inclusion in the SA register. Registration is voluntary.
To be included in the register, your organisation must employ or engage an internal auditor. This may be one of your own staff members or an external consultant. This auditor must have completed the training ‘SCL: Assessing internal security awareness’ completed, or an equivalent training course with another provider that meets the NEN requirements.

The self-declaration is valid for one year at a time. How often your organisation can reissue it depends on the number of people employed.
Your organisation may issue a self-declaration annually, with no limit on the number of times this can be done. The restriction to a maximum of two consecutive years does not apply to this group, as the other SCL products are only available to organisations with five or more employees.
It is still necessary to submit a self-declaration every year. If your organisation chooses to be included in the SA register, it must resubmit this via the web tool.
Your organisation may reissue the self-declaration once, after one year. This allows it to use the SA for a maximum of two consecutive years.
The SA is intended to introduce this group to the Safety Culture Ladder. To continue with an SCL product thereafter, your organisation should select another suitable product.
