Wageningen University organised meeting on Safety Culture Ladder
At a symposium in November, Jeroen Haesenbos, NEN consultant, talked about the Safety Culture Ladder (SCL). Wageningen Food Safety Research has been working on the topic of safe innovation in plant breeding in recent years. Over 30 parties from the plant breeding sector got a unique perspective on conscious safe and healthy working.
Purpose of the lecture tour
The main objective was to explain the basics and operation of Safety Culture. "The Safety Culture Ladder helps organisations to not just follow the rules. But really create a culture in which safety is central," Haesenbos emphasised during his presentation.
Enthusiastic reactions
The professionals responded enthusiastically to the presentation. They were interested in how other sectors deal with safety and what they could learn from this for their own field. The interdisciplinary approach encouraged them to think about innovative ways to promote safety awareness within their research and work in food safety.
Learning from other sectors
By sharing insights from other sectors, it is hoped that attendees will develop new perspectives that can help them implement safe working practices in the plant breeding sector. With this symposium, Wageningen Food Safety Research is taking an important step in inspiring professionals to take safety seriously and work together across sectors to create a safe working environment.
